Welcome

In all its diversity, Jan Ezendam’s eclectic work all stems from one clear starting point: his passion for harmony. A search, like the age-old quest for ‘musica speculativa’, is the result of this fascination for the world of chords and specific constellations within it.

A constant interaction develops between creative practice and music-theoretical craftsmanship, between composition and aesthetics, between theory and performance.
Instead of specialising, the musician searches for a balance between deepening and social involvement.

Boundaries within the compositional oeuvre thus become blurred.

With this new freedom in composing contemporary hybrid forms and styles, however, comes the responsibility to apply pure craftsmanship. An essential element within the modelling of new skills is the pursuit of transparency, with tonality and atonality manifesting themselves as polarities in a complementary system.
